After nearly two years of cooperation, due to the restrictions of the epidemic, the co-host of TIUL, Dr. Hsuan-Chang Shih, represented TIUL to visited the partner school, University of Al-Azhar (UAI) in August 2022, and TIUL overseas in Indonesia Scientific Research Center, and presented a conference on possible future research collaborations at UAI with UAI president, vice president, deans of Office of International Affairs (OIA), deans of departments and other members.

During the meeting, Dr. Shih said that in the future, other researchers from TIUL and NTPU will invite UAI and Indonesian scholars to participate in their upcoming research cooperation. Research collaborations will address the following areas: (1) Urban Tourism, (2) Real Estate and Urban Development, and (3) Community Resilience, and will be an opportunity to expand teaching networks through research collaborations. In addition, it is hoped that UAI can cooperate with NTPU in teaching in the future, aiming to broaden the teaching horizons of NTPU's Taiwanese students and UAI's Indonesian students; this teaching cooperation project will also benefit the participating teachers in the field of international-level teaching experience. The visit of Dr. Shi, director of TIUL, not only strengthened the partnership between the two universities, but also provided an opportunity for further research cooperation.

Since NTPU and UAI signed an international cooperation agreement in 2021, the relationship between UAI and NTPU has made some progress in the current year of cooperation. For example, UAI has promoted NTPU and TIUL in Indonesia, which has contributed to the 「The New Southbound Policy」, and also successfully introduced TIUL to all institutions in UAI. In the past year, the two universities have established a good partnership in scientific research with each other, and the cooperative relationship between the two universities will continue to ferment and become more effective in the next few years.
